At the Edge (Painting)
This work is 30x24 inch acrylic painting on canvas and created in early 2022.
At the Edge, was inspired by two works I found during my research into historical artists. In February 2022, I visited the Cleveland Museum of Art where my eyes were exposed to the amazing painting, Rock at Sea, by Raymond Johnson made in 1920-22. The textures and color pallet were so extraordinary and I was obsessed with the abstraction to the landscape. I also discovered Paul Lehr’s 1971 cover art for George R. Stewart’s novel, Earth Abides around this time. Lehr’s otherworldly Sci-Fi art combined with Johnson’s abstracted landscape ideas led to creating my own fictional fantasy.
