Dusk of the Jungle (Painting)
This work is 36x24 inch acrylic painting on canvas and was created in early 2023.
Dusk of the Jungle is the second painting in my diptych series inspired by my Filipino heritage. This is my representation of an evening in jungle in the Philippines, which face dangers of deforestation. There are many endangered species that inhabit these jungles and two are represented in my work. The Philippine Eagle is known to be a mighty predator that is fierce enough to eat monkeys and is displayed soaring through the sky in the first painting of the series. This painting features the eagle’s prey, a long-tailed macaque monkey, that is sitting on top of a tree. These works allowed me to explore personal heritage and environmental issues.
